About The Position

Real Chemistry is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to lead the building, deployment, and operation of their enterprise platform for omnichannel orchestration in healthcare marketing. This role involves building operational practices from the ground up, working directly with client infrastructure and security teams, and having significant ownership and influence in a small, growing team. The platform is designed to help healthcare organizations design, deploy, and optimize healthcare professional (HCP) journeys through a scalable, self-service product that connects to existing marketing and data systems. The platform is currently live with early users and experiencing rapid growth, making this an influential period for its future development.

Requirements

8+ years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
2+ years leading a team.
Experience running serverless or managed-service infrastructure in production.
Experience deploying and operating software inside environments not fully controlled by the company (e.g., client's cloud account, regulated environment).
Experience working directly with client security and infrastructure teams.
Track record of hiring and growing engineers.
Experience running a technical interview loop from scratch.
Comfortable directing and reviewing agentic or AI-assisted changes to infrastructure code, with the judgment to know when human oversight is needed.
Strong opinions, loosely held, and evidence of adapting standards to external constraints.
Comfort with ambiguity and a fast-moving, small engineering organization.

Nice To Haves

Pharma or HCP marketing experience.
Experience in any complex, regulated marketing data environment (ad tech, financial services marketing, health systems).

Responsibilities

Design and drive how the platform is deployed, ensuring it can run reliably in multiple environments, is parameterized, repeatable, and well-documented for operation by other cloud teams.
Work directly with client infrastructure and security teams to deploy the platform within their environments without forking the product.
Direct the operational posture of data stores, including backup and restore, failover testing, capacity management, and secure connectivity.
Drive platform-level observability, security, and CI/CD, collaborating with Real Chemistry's corporate IT, DevSecOps, and security teams on audit readiness.
Establish incident response and on-call practices as the team expands.
Set standards for agentic or AI-assisted changes to infrastructure code, including establishing guardrails for safe application of generated changes.
