About The Position

The Lead DevOps Engineer will design, implement, and support cloud, infrastructure, and DevOps platforms that enable secure, resilient, and automated service delivery. The role works closely with engineering, architecture, security, and operational teams to improve deployment, observability, platform reliability, and infrastructure automation. The role provides technical leadership for platform, DevOps, infrastructure, or software engineering work in a complex environment. It applies agile and product-centred principles to turn shared engineering needs into reusable platform capabilities, standards, and patterns. The position also supports technology modernisation and cross-cutting engineering improvements. This may include providing self-service access to approved tooling and infrastructure, improving CI/CD and release practices, strengthening observability and operational readiness, reducing duplication, improving automated testing and quality gates, and creating paved paths for secure and maintainable service delivery. This is a six-month contract role, described as hybrid working with occasional travel to London; the general information section lists the workplace type as remote. SC Clearance is essential: candidates must be willing and eligible to undergo checks. Preference may be given to candidates who meet all essential criteria and already hold active security clearance. The role falls within the scope of Off Payroll Working in the Public Sector legislation; quoted payment rates reflect the gross daily rate and are subject to applicable taxes and statutory costs.
