About The Position

The Lead Designer, Footwear & Apparel Color for NikeSKIMS will combine experience, problem-solving abilities, and creativity to help build the Color identity of this new brand. The ideal candidate needs to elevate the consumer product experience with a focus on both the art & science of color. In this role, you will drive an emotional connection to apparel & footwear through narrative and storytelling. This role requires passion and creativity, along with versatility and focus to see designs through the product creation process. This designer is a dedicated team player that knows how to collaborate, receive feedback, and manage multiple projects at any given time. This designer can also translate complex insights into authentic narratives and create compelling solutions that will help define the future of NikeSKIMS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience, or training
  • 5+ years of progressively technically challenging Color design experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Macintosh computers using Photoshop, Free Hand and/or Illustrator
  • Proficiency with digital tools (Midjourney, Vizcom, NewArc, and others)
  • Knowledge of CAD programs, preferably in Mac environment
  • Strong aesthetic sensibility & high taste level
  • Understanding of color trends, color mixing, color compatibility, and color placement
  • Knowledge of product design and development process for apparel and/or footwear
  • Familiarity with product manufacturing processes including materials/fabrics; plastics; pigments
  • Strong verbal, written, visual, and high-profile communication skills in local market language, including meeting facilitation and presentations
  • Ability to understand challenges or underlying concerns, share ideas and develop effective responses or elevate to higher management
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group
  • Ability to network, influence and utilize internal and external resources
  • Ability to articulate how color can affect product and sales
