About The Position

We have an important role to play in securing the region’s clean and reliable energy future and are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain the enterprise data warehouse, data marts, and BI data systems that support business decision-making and strategic initiatives. You will build reliable, scalable data solutions, improve efficiency through automation and innovation, and help ensure the quality, integrity, and performance of our data platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics roles
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with SQL and Python, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred: S3, Lambda, Athena, Aurora, Glue, Redshift)
  • Strong expertise in relational data modeling, database design, and performance optimization (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Experience mentoring and developing engineers, fostering best practices, code quality, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
  • Ability to influence architectural decisions and collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, analytics, and business teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with modern data stack tools such as dbt, Airflow or Dagster, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale data architectures and data platforms
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and DevOps best practices
  • Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and observability tools

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable data platforms, including data warehouses, data marts, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Establish standards and best practices for data modeling, transformation, and system design.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of data systems through optimization, monitoring, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee pipeline reliability, database performance, and production readiness for mission-critical workloads.
  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to align data architecture with organizational goals.
  • Drive integration of data systems and ensure consistency, accessibility, and usability of enterprise data.
  • Evaluate and adopt new tools, frameworks, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to the data engineering team, fostering continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support mission-critical analytics in production.
