Lead Data Analyst

Thrive Global
$145,000 - $175,000

About The Position

As a Lead Data Analyst, you will drive data-driven decision-making across both our product and our customers. You will define and track the metrics that matter, like product adoption, engagement, retention, and customer health, and translate them into insights that both shape product strategy and demonstrate the impact of the Thrive platform. You'll move fluidly across the business: partnering with product managers, designers, and engineers from discovery through delivery, and working alongside customer success and sales to make sure our customers have the data they need to understand our product's effectiveness and build data-informed health and wellbeing strategies. This role calls for a blend of strong analytical skills, stakeholder management, and an eye for improving and scaling processes. You'll work autonomously, own your areas end to end, and be central to the strategic success of both our product and our customer relationships.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a product or customer analyst, ideally at a fast-paced startup or health-tech environment
  • Clear demonstration of ownership in customer-facing and stakeholder management experience, such as in a consulting or B2B SaaS business
  • Ability to translate complex datasets into simple, actionable insights, in a format accessible to nontechnical audiences
  • Ability to initiate and tackle projects that don’t just solve for the short-term need, but long-term improvements (e.g., drive better data governance, create assets that simplify complicated requests, establish more effective ways of working with stakeholders)
  • Significant hands-on experience using and applying SQL, ideally with experience applying SQL transformations via dbt
  • Experience working with Python or R for data analysis, including statistical work
  • Experience with modern data stack tooling (our stack includes Databricks, dbt, and Looker)
  • Experience using, maintaining, and/or building automated systems and processes to meet consistent, recurring data needs preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Someone self-directed who brings order and structure to ambiguity
  • Someone who translates complex data into clear, actionable insights for any audience, whether presenting to executives and customers or partnering with engineers, and meets people wherever they are in their comfort with data
  • Someone who sees challenges as opportunities to build better processes, systems, and approaches
  • Someone who collaborates with other analysts and raises the team’s impact, not just their own

Responsibilities

  • Identify, create, and own ways to automate, scale, and improve data processes
  • Serve as a data subject-matter expert for Thrive’s internal teams and represent data interests to the broader Thrive team
  • Pursue projects that deepen our understanding of the employee health and wellbeing spaces and customer interests, with a focus on ways to improve the user journey, our products, and our data offering to customers
  • Own measurement for new product initiatives E2E to support product strategy: from defining success metrics and instrumentation to analyzing adoption, engagement, and retention
  • Partner with customer success and sales to tell the story of Thrive's impact, building the analyses and narratives that power QBRs and executive reviews
  • Collaborate with other analysts to develop a holistic approach to meeting stakeholder data needs, both day-to-day and as part of our long-term strategy
  • Mentor and coach analysts, raising the team's technical bar
