The Lead Copywriter helps to shape our brand’s voice, craft compelling narrative across channels, and lead copy strategy for our brand creative team. You’ll translate brand strategy into persuasive, distinctive copy—packaging, campaigns, ecomm, email,, social and performance mediums —while mentoring writers and partnering with design, product, marketing and growth to ensure a consistent, measurable brand voice. As a seasoned writer with a wealth of experience building brands with a lens to growth, you understand the power and importance copy brings into the dimension of a brand and ushering it to life. You can conceptualize brand and campaign platform ideas and see them to execution – no matter what channel they appear – with consistency and craft that is integral to scaling our specific brand of functional wellness. You are well-versed in advertising and performance best practices, passionate about social and cultural conversations within our industry and look to champion unexpected ideas that punch above their weight to deliver results and make Saje famous. Equally, you are as comfortable working within mediums that require systems and scale, and understands the importance of copy as a medium to build work that works. You are experienced at working with creatives from various disciplines and lift all boats as a leader, empowering skillset growth and encouraging greatness. Requirements
- 7+ years copywriting experience, developing full-funnel, omni-channel campaigns, with at least 2 years leading or mentoring creative teams (agency or in‑house).
- Proven track record of crafting voice across product, packaging, digital, and campaign work—portfolio required.
- Strong strategic instincts: can translate brand positioning and consumer insight into clear concepts, ideas, execution and can pull those through a variety of channels.
- Excellent editing chops and ability to write in akin to the brand’s tone.
- Experience with consumer product categories (wellness, beauty, CPG, lifestyle preferred).
- Comfortable with production realities, balancing multiple projects at a time in a fast-paced working environment.
- Demonstrated experience running and interpreting copy performance tests (A/B tests, lift studies).
- Proficient in gathering learnings and insights from platforms, consumer feedback and culture to make concise, relevant recommendations.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with SEO best practices for product/descriptive copy a plus.
- Basic understanding of brand metrics (awareness, consideration, conversion) and how copy influences them
Responsibilities
- Support in all brand development work as it pertains to content and copy and lead copy strategy for product launches and campaigns.
- Own brand voice and messaging framework, ensure consistent across all touchpoints.
- Conceptualize larger campaign ideas and umbrella concepts, working with the Creative Director, Design to ensure they are on strategy and on brand.
- Collaborate with creative directors, designers, marketing, growth and product teams from brief to final execution.
- Write and edit high‑impact copy: succinct headlines, persuasive body copy, ecomm & email copy, and legal‑clearable product claims.
- Develop naming systems, product line naming, and naming governance.
- Create and maintain brand tone guidelines, messaging matrices, and copy templates.
- Partner with Marketing, Growth and Retail teams, becoming the go-to-expert with a wealth of knowledge around best practices and an encyclopedic knowledge of Saje’s products, benefits and brand positioning.
- Lead and mentor the copy team to deliver timely, creative, and on-brand work that meets shared KPI's and briefing deadlines.
- Advocate for team capacity, resources and professional growth opportunities and maintain 1:1s with your direct team.
- Manage administrative tasks for your team (vacation approval, job descriptions, reviews and goals).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and accessibility requirements (working with legal/regulatory teams).
