You will play a central role in rolling out our new brand platform and tone of voice, ensuring these are translated into actionable, inspiring copy across campaigns, product experiences, CRM, digital, social, and more. You’ll also lead the creation, ownership, and stewardship of our brand writing guidelines—and support teams across the organization in applying them effectively. This role requires a writer with exceptional dexterity: someone who can switch fluidly between conceptual ideation, headline craftsmanship, long-form storytelling, scripting, product messaging, performance media and landing page copy and highly structured work like messaging matrices. You are as comfortable synthesizing data cues and strategic inputs as you are crafting powerful creative ideas. This is a Hybrid position located in our San Jose, CA or Frisco, TX office. We value in-office collaboration and meaningful interactions, so expect that you will be able to be in the office on a regular basis according to team needs. When you are not working on-site, you will be working from your home office. We are only considering candidates within a commutable distance to the San Jose or Frisco office and are not offering relocation assistance at this time.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years (we’d love more!) of copywriting experience in brand, advertising, digital content, or creative environments
  • Portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, craft, versatility, and storytelling across channels (required)
  • Exceptional writer and editor with mastery across formats
  • Ability to interpret strategy and data into compelling copy
  • Strong storytelling instincts across audiences and channels
  • Highly collaborative, proactive, and comfortable in a lean team
  • Skilled at managing multiple projects
  • Confident communicator able to present work and uphold voice standards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience writing for consumer brands; tech or subscription experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Write compelling copy across campaigns, digital experiences, social, CRM, web, video scripts, product surfaces, and internal communications
  • Develop strong conceptual ideas with designers, art directors, UX writers, content strategists, comms and marketing partners
  • Craft headlines, narratives, scripts, product claims and copy across formats
  • Work seamlessly across structured and unstructured formats, including messaging frameworks and matrices
  • Lead evolution, documentation, and ownership of McAfee’s tone of voice and copy guidelines as the industry, packages, products and features evolve
  • Ensure new brand strategy and tone are consistently expressed across channels and product surfaces
  • Provide brand writing guidance, reviews, and approvals to internal partners
  • Train teams and advocate for best-in-class writing
  • Interpret briefs, strategic insights, and data cues to create targeted messaging
  • Partner with Brand Strategy to bring architecture, segmentation, and insights into compelling writing
  • Ensure copy meets business objectives, audience needs, and channel requirements
  • Work closely with lean internal creative team to concept and deliver integrated work
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Growth, Comms, and Product teams to translate strategy and benefits
  • Collaborate with external agency partners to maintain voice and creative consistency
