About The Position

Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a Full-Time Permanent Lead Cook to work at Grand Traverse County Jail in Traverse City, Michigan. This role is for a dependable, motivated individual with strong character and a positive attitude, who can work successfully in a structured environment. The Lead Cook will play an important role in the daily operation of the facility kitchen, taking on leadership responsibilities and being part of a team that makes a difference.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work weekends and holidays
• Flexibility to work varying days and hours, approximately 10:00 AM-6:00 PM
• Must be able to obtain clearance and approval to work inside the facility
• A positive, dependable, and professional attitude
• The ability to work effectively in a structured correctional environment
• The ability to read, understand, and follow company recipes
• The ability to assist with food preparation, baking, cooking, and clean-up
• The ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

• Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person!

Responsibilities

• Working as part of a team in a structured correctional environment
• Preparing, baking, and cooking meals according to company standards
• Reading and following company recipes and established procedures
• Helping ensure meals are prepared accurately and on schedule
• Assisting with kitchen organization and maintaining a clean work area
• Assisting with kitchen clean-up and maintaining proper sanitation
• Leading, directing, and assisting inmates within the kitchen
