The Lead Continuous Visual Monitoring Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This role provides continuous safety observation via continuous video monitoring of patients identified to be at risk for causing injury to themselves or to others. Responsibilities include offering basic comfort measures to help the patient relax and addressing the emotional needs of specific patients served, including the use of encouragement, distraction, coping strategies, cognitive stimulation activities, and de-escalation techniques within the scope of this role as appropriate. The technician monitors multiple patients via continuous video monitoring on site at Delnor Hospital, providing effective verbal redirection of designated remote continuous observation patients from engaging in risk behaviors and summoning appropriate staff via communication device/STAT Alert Alarm when appropriate. The role also involves intake operations, camera setup, patient information entry, receiving hand-offs from unit staff, ensuring camera functionality, assigning patients to CVM techs, and managing discharge processes. Additionally, the Lead CVM Technician assists with high acuity patient troubleshooting with IT, Artisight, and Epic, performs data collection, manages staffing for the assigned shift, leads shift huddles, and serves as the primary onboarding team member, scheduling orientation, facilitating check-ins, and ensuring competencies are completed timely.
