About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to manage and support all certified nursing assistants within the facility. This includes participating in the interviewing, orientation, and onboarding processes for all CNAs. The Lead CNA ensures appropriate staffing of CNAs with daily and monthly schedules directed by the Director of Nursing (DON) and based on patient-day (PPD) needs. They also ensure appropriate training and services are completed and documented according to state regulations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computer systems including Point of Care
  • Knowledge of nursing procedures and standards of care relating to CNA
  • Leadership and supervisory skills-willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
  • Patience, tact and a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm as well as willingness to handle difficult people
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served
  • One-year experience in a long-term care environment (preferred)
  • Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an CNA in Colorado

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of long-term care and skilled nursing state and federal regulations (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Nursing as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the CNAs.
  • Assist in developing methods for coordinating CNA services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents' total regimen of care.
  • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing.
  • Audit CNA documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement Committee program in cooperation with the Administrator and Interdisciplinary Team members (IDT) as assigned.
  • Serve on, participate in, and attend various other committees of the facility (i.e., psychotropic drug committee, restraint management committee, safety committee, etc. as required, and as appointed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Ensure that all mandatory CNA education is completed timely and documented appropriately per state regulations.
  • Provide inservices as directed by DON/ADON.
  • Provide direct nursing care as needed.
  • Provide all quarterly inservices for Hoyer/Sit to stand lifts; keeping appropriate records of mandatory training in conjunction with SDC/ADON.
  • Participate in the orientation process as needed.
  • Serve as back-up staffing coordinator as needed, ensuring accurate daily PPDs, handling call-offs, and other duties in a timely manner.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
