About The Position

Position Summary: The Lead Chemical Dependency Counselor provides advanced clinical services for patients with acute substance use needs. The role is responsible for completing comprehensive assessments, coordinating care, supporting the social work team with discharge planning, and leading clinical interventions for complex cases. The Lead Clinician Manager also serves as a key resource for staff, supports program development and provides leadership coverage in the absence of the Director. Key Responsibilities: Complete comprehensive ASAM 4 Level of Care Assessments and ensure accurate documentation in the electronic medical records system. Implement individualized relapse prevention plans that address patient specific needs, triggers and risk factors for sustained recovery. Maintain a caseload to deliver clinical interventions for acute and high-risk substance use disorder patients Utilize a harm reduction approach to support patient engagement and safety when appropriate. Participate in staffing meetings for acute substance abuse cases to contribute meaningful clinical insight for continuity of care. Collaborate with the social work to provide clinical updates in support of their duties to discharge plan for patients. Provide timely updates regarding clinical presentation, treatment concerns, barriers to treatment related to substance abuse programming for flash reports. Assist with onboarding training and guidance with ASAM criteria and documentation for students and clinical staff. Assist with mentorship to students and staff within the substance abuse program. Provide leadership coverage in absence of the Director, including overseeing daily program operations, updating program metrics and reporting data, providing supervision and assigning assessments to CADC staff. Requirements

  • Masters degree in Social Work or Psychology required.
  • Experience working in acute care, inpatient or residential SUD settings.
  • Previous leadership and supervisory experience.
  • LCPC, LCSW in addition to CADC. (Active and in good standing).
  • Strong knowledge of ASAM criteria and level of care determinations, sxperience with clinical documentation and EMR systems, strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills, ability to manage complex, high-acuity patient cases, effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, leadership, training and supervisory capabilities, ability to balance clinical and administrative responsibilities, commitment to patient centered and harm reduction approaches.
