About The Position
As a Central Service Lead Technician, you provide technical expertise in processing instrumentation and supplies so they are suitable for patient use on routine and emergency bases. You serve as a key department leader, prioritizing workload, maintaining quality indicators, and upholding the organization’s mission and philosophy in daily operations. You help ensure surgical instruments and supplies are sterilized, inspected, and ready for timely use. You oversee assembly and decontamination processes, maintain workflow and productivity, and help medical teams avoid procedure delays. The position also involves operating sterilization equipment and leading staff toward departmental goals.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfort operating complex sterilization equipment.
- Ability to lead a team toward departmental goals.
Nice To Haves
- Central Service Technician Certificate, or willingness to obtain the certification within the first year of employment.
- Experience in the medical field.
- Experience supervising or coaching other workers.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize and organize daily workload to maintain high productivity and smooth workflow.
- Assemble trays, individual instruments, and supplies according to departmental policy.
- Inspect instrumentation for cleanliness, sharpness, and functionality.
- Operate decontamination and sterilization equipment while following safety and hazard protocols.
- Monitor, record, and respond to biological indicators to ensure sterilization process integrity.
- Lead the picking and wanding of surgical supplies for each case to help prevent procedure delays.
- Train and coach new and current staff, and complete competency sign-offs.
- Oversee day-to-day departmental operations to ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time.
