About The Position

160 Driving Academy is seeking an experienced CDL A Driver to transition into a leadership role as a Lead CDL A Instructor. This position involves mentoring other instructors, overseeing student training in pre-trip inspections, yard skills, and road driving, and ensuring high-quality, safety-focused instruction. The role is crucial in preparing students for their CDL exams and helping them succeed in the trucking industry. With 150 locations across 43 states, 160 Driving Academy offers career stability and opportunities for leadership growth, committed to helping experienced CDL drivers advance into leadership while shaping the future of the trucking industry.

Requirements

  • Must reside in the state or have a residence in place for relocation
  • Valid CDL Class A license with a minimum of 24 months of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
  • Safe driving record and ability to pass DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor students
  • Basic computer skills to track student progress and scheduling

  • Knowledge of FMCSA and CDL training standards

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support instructors to ensure effective and engaging training
  • Oversee student training by leading pre-trip inspections, yard skills, and road driving instruction
  • Emphasize safety and professionalism in all aspects of training
  • Monitor student progress and assist instructors in preparing students for their CDL exams
  • Track training effectiveness and provide feedback to improve instruction
  • Maintain proper documentation, including student evaluations and training records
  • Work collaboratively with other instructors to provide an effective training experience
