About The Position

The Lead Cashier is responsible for efficient guest transactions and maintaining clean, organized, guest-ready cashwrap standards. This experienced cashier supports the leadership team with register opening and closing functions, associate exit inspections, and cashier chat-ins and chat-outs. The role assists with training new cashiers and cross-training other associates, and leads and influences peers to support productivity and performance. The Lead Cashier contributes to store sales, guest experience, loyalty and credit goals, and operational compliance. They provide personalized service, share loyalty program benefits, support appointments and in-store events, maintain cashwrap displays and supplies, and help ensure company policies, procedures, safety, inventory control, and loss-prevention standards are followed. The role requires flexible scheduling, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Applicants or associates in the role must be at least 18 years old.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred.
Two years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
Proven ability to delegate, multitask, and problem-solve.
Knowledge of and passion for guest service, with competency in selling.
Experience addressing guest concerns and questions promptly and professionally.
Demonstrated experience exceeding sales goals and training new hires.
Proficiency with basic technology, such as a point-of-sale system and Apple devices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Ability to react under pressure, exercise good judgment in ambiguous situations, and be flexible and adaptable.
Must be at least 18 years old; the role cannot be held by a minor.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, omnichannel, guest loyalty including credit, and retail shrink.
Greet and engage guests, personalize service, and recommend products and services to provide an exceptional experience.
Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
Connect guests with associates for makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events.
Replenish, organize, and maintain cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures.
Support the leadership team with cashier chat-ins and chat-outs and associate exit inspections as needed.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services and their ingredients and benefits.
Promote the guest loyalty program, credit, and Ulta Beauty app, and encourage accountability for individual and store goals.
Assist in training new cashiers and cross-training other associates in cashiering.
Lead and influence peers to achieve productivity and performance goals, and support cashier accountability for personalized service and use of system prompts.
Participate in ongoing brand and category training and collaborate with store managers and associates to grow the business.
Follow company policies, procedures, standards, and dress code.
Complete guest returns and associate transactions and properly control cash and media at the cashwrap.
Complete designated register opening and closing functions as directed by the manager on duty.
Maintain cleanliness and store standards at the cashwrap, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, and break area.
Protect company assets and minimize loss by following workplace safety, inventory control, and loss-prevention standards.
Complete other operational tasks as directed.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
