About The Position

The Lead Cashier, under the direction of the Gift Shop Manager, is responsible for the efficient, prompt processing of all customer transactions and ensuring the proper controls of all cash and paper transactions are followed and ensuring each customer receives outstanding Customer Service per Company standards. The position is responsible for oversight and supervision of Cashiers in conjunction with the Gift Shop Manager. The position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years previous retail cashier experience or equivalent college education in retail or bookkeeping/accounting required.
  • Must have working knowledge and be able to use word processing and spreadsheet and data base software.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must have excellent public relation/customer service skills and be able to exhibit friendly and positive attitude.
  • Must be creative in resolving customer complaints and disputes among cashiers.
  • Must be prepared to make quick decisions that will be satisfactory to customers and beneficial to the company.
  • Must be able to work with minimal to no supervision.
  • Must have excellent math skills.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, coworkers, subordinates and the general public.
  • Must be able to provide attentive, cheerful, courteous and professional service to all customers, internal and external, striving to always exceed their expectations.
  • Must be able and available to work different shifts and extra hours when needed.
  • Must be able to work in a high stress environment and handle difficult situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous convenience store work experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with software systems i.e. Infogenesis, Eatec, etc. preferred.
  • Native American preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meets, greets, and assists public in selecting gifts and merchandise.
  • Maintains and records daily sales on cash register.
  • Evaluates and purchases weekly beverage, snack, amenities, and tobacco products.
  • Monitors and maintains Hotel soda and Superior Room cigarette vending machine.
  • Maintains inventory of special-order items.
  • Checks in orders and matches all times to the PO and Packing Slip.
  • Supervises Cashiers in conjunction with the Gift Shop Manager and assists with the scheduling of staff when needed.
  • Train newly hired Cashiers on company procedures, proper cash handling, and company policies.
  • Manage store operations in the absence of the Gift Shop Manager.
  • Ensure cashiers follow accounting policies, safety procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Find resolutions to team conflicts daily and assist Gift Shop Manager in carrying out disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Inform Surveillance and Manager of suspicious activities and actions related to finances and shop items for prompt attention.
  • Ensure that company security procedures are observed at all times to deter theft, shoplifting, and robbery.
  • Assists with the daily upkeep of business duties including stocking, rotating of merchandise, price merchandise as it arrives, sorting used playing cards for customer purchase, and folds/hangs clothing as needed.
  • Reconciles register drawer and verifies register totals against cash on hand, receipts, credit cards, vouchers, and debits.
  • Checks vendor deliveries, prices products, stocks shelves and coolers.
  • Performs general cleaning duties including cashier area, cooler, shelving, sales floor, and all storage areas.
  • Keeps all products clean and organized and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Checks identification of customers purchasing tobacco and/or alcohol products to verify age requirements to comply with Tribal and State law.
  • Changes displays regularly with consideration to buying audience and season.
  • Assists in interview process for new employees.
  • Assists with monthly, quarterly and yearly inventory counts.
  • Verifies vendor coupons, gaming vouchers, promo gift certificates, and employee gift certificates.
  • Answers phones and takes messages and orders as needed.
  • Compiles and processes weekly and monthly invoices as requested.
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.
