Lead Carpenter (High End Residential Construction)

Hurst ConstructionKansas City, MO
Hybrid

About The Position

Hurst Construction, Inc. is a craft-based residential design-build firm operating in the Kansas City metro and Lawrence areas since 2003. We are a small team of dedicated craftspeople who build for a range of designers and architects, resulting in unique projects with high detail standards. We also produce our own millwork in-house, allowing us to solve complex details internally. This role is for craftspeople who want to do their best work on high-end, design-driven residential projects alongside experienced leads who prioritize detail and employee success. The work involves real projects with high standards, where team members work in small crews under a Lead Carpenter, using architectural drawings on projects ranging from custom homes to detailed renovations. The opportunity to move between projects allows for exposure to diverse work, details, and designer requirements, fostering a broad skill range.

Requirements

  • Real carpentry experience — residential preferred, but we'll talk to anyone who can demonstrate the skill and a desire to learn.
  • The ability to read a set of architectural drawings, build to them and point out when the site conditions differ.
  • Someone who speaks up early when something doesn't line up, instead of building it wrong and hoping.
  • Reliable. Shows up, on time, ready to work.
  • Comfortable working as part of a crew — teaching when you know something, asking when you don't.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Carpenters move between job sites as the work demands.
