About The Position

Under the general direction of the Departmental Director, assists with ensuring all Cardiac Cath Lab techs demonstrate competence in the use of patient care equipment, performing all procedures and exams by coaching and mentoring. The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech Lead is responsible for the following in the absence of the Departmental Supervisor: staff coverage, patient & physician relations, operational procedures, supply ordering, serving in the lead role with tech orientation in the department. The Cardiac Cath Lab Tech Lead will perform all exams and procedures within the confines described in the Radiology Policy Manual, meet the technical competence requirements for the position, maintain an effective working relationship with all staff, participate in professional education programs, patient/staff safety initiatives and quality assurance/improvement activities. This role supports departmental goals by enhancing service quality and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved/ accredited Radiological Technologist program with minimum of Associates Degree
  • 4 years of previous cardiac Cath Lab experience
  • Active Massachusetts state license.
  • CPR/ACLS certified

Nice To Haves

  • Current experience in a cardiac cath lab with diagnostic and interventional capabilities is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with cardiac support devices and procedures including: Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), Impella ventricular assist device, Shockwave intravascular lithotripsy system, Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)
  • Experience with sterile field set up and adherence to aseptic technique in an interventional or surgical environment is preferred.
  • Current RCIS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established policies and procedures and maintain open communication with departmental leadership and other staff regarding patient care delivery, technical operations, equipment utilization, regulatory compliance, and continuing education.
  • Work with departmental staff to coordinate patient flow by monitoring hospital information and scheduling systems.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional quality assurance/improvement programs and adhere to required infection control, environmental care, radiation safety, and general safety procedures to ensure overall patient, staff and public safety.
  • Monitor and perform required quality control on all imaging instrumentation, survey meters, calibrators, and other devices on an as needed basis to ensure appropriate functionality and coordination of required service as determined by the regulatory agency.
  • Ensure that all state, federal, and local regulatory accreditation and organizational guidelines are met when performing job functions including the receipt, administration, storage, disposal and general management of supplies and materials.
  • Ensure quality patient care by helping to establish an orderly, clean, caring, and professional environment.
  • Maintain departmental stocks and supplies and assist in managing an appropriate and fiscally responsible supply inventory by adhering to the established material management program.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
