The Cardiac Sonographer Lead is responsible for independently performing all echocardiograms, including those that are very complex, in the hospital-based and/or pediatric settings. The sonographer lead will serve as the liaison between sonographers and leadership. They are also responsible for coordinating the sonographer schedule and coverage under the guidance of the manager and medical director. The sonographer lead is involved in accreditation applications and ongoing quality assurance projects. They are expected to provide constructive feedback to staff and input on staff performance evaluations, hiring, and corrective action. Responsibilities may change over time at the discretion of department leadership to meet the department's evolving needs. For NH sites, a Medical Imaging License through the state's OPLC is required upon hire.
