Leads a team responsible for the installation, modification, repair, and maintenance of voice, data, and video cabling systems under the direction and supervision of the Department Manager. This role involves surveying installation areas to determine work methods, tools, and materials required. The Lead Cabling Technician manages daily planning, operations, and problem-solving to ensure the team meets required service levels. They supervise the installation of various structured cable distribution systems, including Category 3, Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6, and Fiber Optic systems. The position also includes leading efforts in installing outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping, and pre-termination, ensuring cables are organized, formed, dressed, and labeled according to industry standards. The role requires performing site surveys, reading blueprints and floor plans, conducting visual site inspections, and implementing cut-overs in both retrofit and new construction environments. A strong understanding of LAN/WAN topologies, cabling standards, and components is essential. The technician will also install closet hardware, terminate various connectors, test copper and fiber cables, diagnose and correct problems, remove abandoned cables, install grounding infrastructure, and perform cable splices. The role emphasizes demonstrating and promoting an understanding of the company's mission and values, maintaining knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, and supporting customer service expectations.
