About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is currently hiring for a Lead Building Technician to support our data centers. The Lead Building Technician (LT) is responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center. The LT manages small-to-medium projects from conception to completion, obtains and tracks quotes for all necessary costs and documenting project results for future implementation at other facilities. The LT supports Engineering Operation technicians and any third party vendors in their role of providing hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switch gear, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment
  • In-depth understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations such as: generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and/or work in elevated locations.
  • Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to provide after-hours support as needed.
  • Bilingualism French and English is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or College's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent work experience in Mechanical/Electrical Field
  • Electrical or Mechanical trade (Post Secondary Education)
