About The Position

Launch Potato is seeking a Lead BI Developer to manage the reporting infrastructure that supports decision-making across their Credit Cards, Make Money/Manage Money, Banking, and Marketplace verticals. This role offers a growth path to become a proactive analytical partner who can anticipate future needs. The developer will be embedded with business teams, collaborating with Yield, Paid Media, and Account Management to analyze trends, experiments, creatives, offers, seasonality, and CAC performance. The focus is on ensuring the developed work is used, understood, and acted upon, rather than simply building dashboards and handing them off.

Requirements

Expert SQL
Comfortable with Unstructured Complex Data: Extracts accurate insights from raw, unstructured data without relying on clean models
Reporting Ownership & Data Literacy: Builds, standardizes, drives adoption, and leaves teams more data-literate
Performance Marketing Optimization: Connects data directly to levers that move the business, i.e. campaign performance, conversion rates, or revenue per session
Advanced LookML Development (or equivalent in Power BI / Tableau): Architects complex models with full understanding of downstream impacts
Curiosity & Business Depth: Asks questions first; driven to grow business knowledge to become a trusted analytical partner, not just a builder
Minimum 7 years in business intelligence or analytics with direct exposure to performance or affiliate marketing.
Strongest candidates have owned reporting end-to-end, from pipeline to dashboard, worked with messy, complex, third-party data, and partnered closely with business teams to uncover meaningful trends, conduct retrospective analyses, and connect data work to decisions that actually moved the business.

Responsibilities

Own the reporting infrastructure that powers decision-making across verticals.
Partner closely with Yield, Paid Media, and Account Management teams.
Uncover meaningful trends, conduct retrospective analyses across experiments, creatives, offers, seasonality, and CAC performance.
Challenge the team with insights they aren't currently seeing.
Audit existing reporting to identify discrepancies, redundancies, and inconsistencies.
Develop a roadmap to standardize reporting across verticals.
Articulate how assigned verticals make money and identify key performance levers.
Improve dashboard standardization.
Execute on ad hoc requests with accuracy and business context.
Develop trusted data sources to improve data consumption efficiency.
Make changes to LookML structure with full awareness of downstream impacts.
Establish working relationships with Yield, Paid Media, and Account Management teams.
Build trust with the business team through education, best practices, and a standardized reporting suite.
Deliver proactive retrospective analyses.
Understand the full funnel metrics that support each team.
Serve as the trusted technical owner for assigned verticals end-to-end, from raw data ingestion through final dashboard.
Recommend action based on findings, not just report findings.
