About The Position

The Lead Behavioral Health Tech is responsible for supervision, coordinating and providing for the overall transportation, facility, care of all clients and supervision of tech’s. This role involves collaborating with facilities on transportation issues, ensuring client admissions and discharges follow policy, mapping transportation routes, and operating vehicles safely. The position also includes maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the physical environment, monitoring clients, preparing admissions paperwork, communicating concerns, monitoring employee timesheets, maintaining supply inventory, preparing reports, and demonstrating independent work capabilities. Additionally, the Lead Behavioral Health Tech provides supervision and training to other BHTs, including hiring, firing, and conducting annual reviews, and participates in ongoing training and development.

Requirements

  • High School or GED. Will consider individuals without a high-school diploma with at least 6 months of experience in the treatment industry.
  • Minimum of six months experience.
  • Experience in driving and handling patients and staff, preferably in the mental health field.
  • Must possess and maintain a good driving record through the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Motor Vehicle Driver’s License in the State of Florida.
  • Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication, observation & Written skills.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
  • Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Ethics.
  • Knowledge of addictions.
  • Ability to interact with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health.
  • Knowledge of the 12-Step Recovery Program.
  • Knowledge and competency in problem solving, stress management, ethics and team building.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
  • Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
  • Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including: Confidentiality, Patient Rights, Professional Code of Ethics, Discrimination.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.
  • Adults are the age-specific individuals served.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and provide for the overall transportation, facility, and care of all clients.
  • Supervise Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs).
  • Collaborate with facilities regarding transportation issues, concerns, and problems.
  • Ensure client admissions and discharges are done in accordance with policy.
  • Map out transportation routes to facilitate transportation.
  • Operate vehicles in a safe manner in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a good driving record.
  • Assist in maintaining the safety of the physical environment, including vehicles and client rooms.
  • Inspect clients’ rooms for cleanliness, hazardous materials, safety hazards, alcohol, drugs, and weapons.
  • Monitor unauthorized entry of visitors on property.
  • Develop a daily and weekly structure for clients.
  • Ensure completed urinalysis/drug testing is done correctly and submitted.
  • Monitor clients on a frequent basis and keep constant count of clients.
  • Ensure that medication bags are ready each day and transported to and from the center.
  • Ensure timely pick-up of medications from the pharmacy.
  • Prepare admissions paperwork, including securing monies, credit cards, electronic equipment, and medications, and turning these items over to the Treatment Center.
  • Communicate with staff regarding any concerns, emergencies, or AMA’s.
  • Monitor employees’ timesheets and hours.
  • Keep accurate inventory of supplies.
  • Prepare daily shift reports, incident reports, and complete round reports.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently, effectively, and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of cellular telephones and/or two-way radios.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with patients and staff, approaching clients, families, and staff in a respectful and caring manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records.
  • Communicate and problem-solve via chain of command.
  • Recognize crisis situations and provide interventions based on training and experience.
  • Participate in staff meetings as assigned.
  • Report to work as assigned and complete daily tasks.
  • Maintain acceptable overall attendance.
  • Promote a favorable/positive work atmosphere.
  • Provide supervision and training of BHTs, which includes hiring and firing as well as annual reviews.
  • Attend in-services and educational training as necessary.
  • Seek out learning experiences and incorporate new knowledge into practice.
  • Maintain flexibility and adaptability to expected and unexpected changes in the work environment.
  • Report personal symptoms of suspected illness or contagious diseases.
  • Report incident occurrences in accordance to policy and procedure and confer with Nurse Manager & Clinical Director.
  • Ensure common areas are clean and orderly.
  • Ensure that they and all BHTs/supervisees follow all policies, procedures, and protocols of CRC.
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned.
