About The Position

The Lead Bartender position at Waterfront Bar & Grill, located at Horseshoe Bay Resort on Lake LBJ in the Texas Hill Country, is responsible for creating exceptional beverages and serving as a key leader within the bar operation. This role supports daily service, guides team members, maintains operational excellence, and ensures outstanding guest hospitality. The Lead Bartender will oversee shift operations in the absence of management, make staffing adjustments, and ensure smooth execution from opening to close. Waterfront Bar & Grill is a popular dining and entertainment venue known for its vibrant atmosphere, indoor and outdoor waterfront seating, handcrafted cocktails, live music, and chef-inspired cuisine.

Requirements

  • Previous bartending experience required.
  • Valid TABC Certificate required.
  • Valid Food Handler's Certificate required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age; 21+ preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift supplies as needed.
  • Must maintain professional appearance and uniform standards, including slip-resistant footwear.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Resort, hospitality, restaurant, or high-volume upscale bar experience preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Excellent guest service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits.

Responsibilities

  • Craft Exceptional Beverages: Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with all TABC regulations.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of wines, spirits, beers, and specialty cocktails.
  • Lead the Team: Direct and support bartenders and bar staff throughout each shift.
  • Delegate responsibilities and help manage staffing needs when necessary.
  • Serve as a resource for associates and assist in resolving operational challenges.
  • Deliver Outstanding Guest Experiences: Provide attentive, professional, and personalized service.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat visits.
  • Recommend menu items and beverage pairings to enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain Operational Excellence: Monitor inventory levels and maintain proper stock.
  • Complete liquor requisitions and uphold established par levels.
  • Ensure the bar remains organized, clean, and presentation-ready.
  • Train and Develop Associates: Provide coaching, training, and mentorship to team members.
  • Reinforce service standards and operational procedures.
  • Foster teamwork and support a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Safety and Sanitation: Follow all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Support compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
