Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior barista, café, or food service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of coffee preparation, espresso machines, and beverage recipes.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and stand for long periods.
  • Basic math and cash-handling skills.
  • Knowledge of sanitation, safety, and food-handling procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality or customer service experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and drink orders
  • Preparing and serving beverages such as drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks
  • Preparing and serving food items such as sandwiches and pastries
  • Answering customers’ questions about menu choices
  • Promoting and recommending menu options to customers
  • Taking payment from customers
  • Tracking and ordering inventory for cafe and beverage supplies, such as coffee beans, milk, napkins and cups
  • Maintaining espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines and other equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs
  • Keeping the work environment and cafe seating area clean, sanitary and organized
  • Responding to and resolving customer concerns or complaints
  • Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service
  • Master the Bluestone Lane art of making coffee on La Marzocco espresso machinery.
  • Uphold the standards of the Bluestone Lane coffee and beverage program by closely monitoring the beverage products that each Barista/Server produces.
  • Provide genuine connection and hospitality to each and every guest that enters the store.
  • Train, educate, acclimate, and upskills new baristas into store and Bluestone Lane systems.
  • Manage dialing in of coffees and calibration of grinders and brewing equipment through strong technical understanding of extraction and brew variables.
  • Familiar with coffee product rotation, ordering, and inventory management
  • Follows Bluestone Lane recipes and presentation standards in a timely manner.
  • Assist guests in navigate contactless ordering through our digitally enabled platforms.
  • Achieve promise times for all dine in and takeout tickets.
  • Follow all health & safety standards to operate a clean and organized workspace.
  • Understand and consistently comply with Bluestone Lane Recipes, focusing on standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen processes and procedures.
  • Fill out order sheet Mondays and Wednesdays for all products used by the FOH. Milks, Coffee, Paper products, Grab n Go,
  • Fridges and storage areas are to be kept clean and free of clutter and trash
  • Making sure all takeout orders are correct before getting handed over to guest/driver
  • Making sure drinks are being presented in a timely manner (4 min, as per BSL standard)
  • Check expiration dates on all items (discard old product and enter on waste log)
  • Following deep cleaning checklist for espresso and coffee grinder.
  • Window cleaning twice a week.
  • Inventory for FOH at months end
