Lead, Bakery Sanitation - 1st Shift
About The Position
Aspire Bakeries is seeking a Sanitation Lead to join their team at the Alsip, IL bakery. This role involves overseeing sanitation activities to ensure equipment, work areas, and processes meet the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory compliance. The Sanitation Lead will support the Sanitation Supervisor by leading team members, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring adherence to GMPs, HACCP policies, and SOPs. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of food preparation or production experience
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory or lead experience
- Ability to work in fast‑paced environments and follow detailed procedures
- Ability to read and communicate safety rules, SOPs, and documentation requirements
- Ability to wear PPE and perform physical sanitation tasks
Nice To Haves
- College coursework or equivalent experience in food production
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience in bakery or food manufacturing sanitation
- Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety programs
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Responsibilities
- Lead sanitation activities to ensure equipment and production areas meet company standards and specifications
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, allergen, food defense, and food safety requirements
- Maintain accurate, legible sanitation documentation and follow all SOPs
- Communicates food safety or equipment concerns to supervision promptly
- Support equipment readiness by partnering with maintenance and supervision
- Promote and enforce safety practices, PPE usage, and clean work environments
- Guide sanitation team performance in a fast‑paced environment
