About The Position

As a Lead Associate, Credit Operations at QXO, you’ll support day-to-day credit and collections activities while serving as an experienced resource for the Credit Operations team. You’ll manage complex customer accounts, evaluate credit risk, support collections and account resolution, and provide guidance to team members while helping ensure credit processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and consistently. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial credit and accounts receivable knowledge with analytical thinking, customer service, and the ability to guide others in a fast-paced environment. This is a hybrid position that can be based out of our Savage, MD or Dover, DE offices.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
3–5 years of progressive commercial credit, accounts receivable, collections, or related experience preferred
Previous experience serving as a senior team member, trainer, mentor, or informal team lead preferred
Experience managing complex commercial customer accounts or credit portfolios
Experience reviewing credit reports, payment histories, and financial information
Experience within building materials, wholesale distribution, construction, manufacturing, or another B2B environment is a plus
Familiarity with ERP, credit management, accounts receivable, and financial systems
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
Credit or financial industry certification is a plus
Ability to travel to local offices as needed

Responsibilities

Support day-to-day execution of credit operations and established credit procedures
Review and process new customer credit applications and existing account requests
Evaluate customer creditworthiness using payment history, credit reports, financial information, and other available data
Recommend or approve credit limits and account terms within established authority levels
Monitor customer credit exposure and identify accounts requiring additional review
Review requests for credit-limit changes, account releases, credit holds, and other account actions
Handle complex or higher-risk credit requests and escalate significant concerns as appropriate
Ensure customer account information and credit documentation remain accurate and current
Maintain consistent application of established credit policies and procedures
Manage assigned accounts and support collection of outstanding customer balances
Monitor aging, delinquency, past-due balances, and payment commitments
Contact customers regarding outstanding balances and coordinate appropriate resolution
Research and resolve payment discrepancies, deductions, disputes, and account issues
Partner with customers and internal teams to resolve issues affecting payment
Identify higher-risk or significantly past-due accounts and recommend appropriate action
Support efforts to reduce delinquency, improve cash flow, and minimize bad-debt exposure
Escalate complex collection or account issues to Credit leadership when necessary
Serve as a day-to-day resource for Credit Operations team members
Provide guidance regarding credit procedures, account issues, collections, and system processes
Help coordinate daily workload and priorities based on customer and business needs
Assist team members with complex transactions, customer situations, and problem resolution
Support onboarding and training of new Credit Operations employees
Assist with cross-training and knowledge sharing across the team
Reinforce established procedures, service expectations, and documentation standards
Identify recurring questions or training needs and communicate them to Credit leadership
Lead by example through accuracy, professionalism, customer service, and accountability
Partner with Sales and branch teams to resolve customer credit and account concerns
Serve as an escalation resource for more complex customer inquiries
Communicate account status, credit decisions, payment requirements, and next steps clearly
Support resolution of credit holds and other issues that may affect customer orders
Build productive relationships with customers and internal business partners
Balance customer needs and business opportunities with appropriate credit-risk considerations
Provide guidance to internal teams regarding credit policies, procedures, and account requirements
Monitor assigned accounts for changes in payment behavior or credit risk
Review available financial and credit information to identify emerging concerns
Recommend changes to credit limits, terms, or account status when appropriate
Maintain documentation supporting credit decisions and account actions
Escalate significant customer or portfolio risks according to established procedures
Support account reviews and other risk-management activities
Maintain confidentiality of customer financial and business information
Maintain accurate credit, collection, and customer account documentation
Prepare and support recurring reports related to aging, collections, credit exposure, and account status
Track collection activities, customer commitments, and outstanding account issues
Review account information for completeness and accuracy
Assist leadership with identifying trends or accounts requiring additional attention
Support audits and other documentation requests as needed
Identify opportunities to improve credit workflows, documentation, customer service, and operational efficiency
Support standardized procedures and consistent execution across the Credit Operations team
Assist with testing and implementation of system or process enhancements
Recommend solutions for recurring account, collection, or workflow issues
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects
Support implementation of new credit processes, tools, and technology
Perform additional duties as assigned
