About The Position

Incumbents of this position must be U.S. Citizens. This role is responsible for leading the full spectrum of end-user application, patching, and operating system support for various devices and environments, including PCs, MacBooks, virtual machines, and mobile devices. The position involves patching, image creation, configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and overall support. The Lead Application Deployment Engineer will prioritize assignments, coordinate workload, mentor the team, and communicate effectively. They will oversee and utilize automated deployment and management tools, review security notifications, and execute patch management. The role requires working knowledge of shell scripting languages, understanding of front-end technologies, and performing analysis for new and existing applications. Responsibilities include implementing new applications from design through post-installation, providing technical and user support, documenting installations, and ensuring the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies. The position also involves active participation in project planning and taking a leadership role in ensuring the timely and successful completion of projects assigned to the Client Services Engineering team. This position is designated IT-1 (Critical - Sensitive) and requires a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and a Secret Clearance within 6 months of appointment. It is also designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position (Cyber IT/CSWF) in specialty area 45, requiring compliance with DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements, including earning and maintaining appropriate credentials, participating in annual continuous learning, and possessing specific cybersecurity and operating system certifications.

Requirements

  • Must be U.S. Citizens.
  • 3 years experience in administrative, technical, or investigative work which demonstrated the ability and aptitudes required to perform technical and analytical work involving management information systems.
  • Minimum of four years experience in the following: Application Installation, Upgrade, Troubleshooting, and Deployment
  • System user account administration
  • O/S Administration (Microsoft Windows)
  • Automated Application Deployment (Push and Pull)
  • Coordination/planning across multiple systems
  • Mobile Device Management (i.e. Android, iOS)
  • LAN System Administration and support (Microsoft Windows)
  • Application Patch Administration
  • Application Testing for Operating Systems Compatibility
  • Possess, and maintain current, two types of certifications as follows: IA Certification: One of the following certifications: Security+, GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP); or any one of the following higher level certifications: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Security Expert (GSE), Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA).
  • Technical Certification: Windows 10 certification or any replacement certificate or exam that Microsoft may announce in the future to replace Windows 10 Exam MD-100.
  • Certification must be valid (not expired) as defined by the policy of the certification issuer.
  • Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job, but must obtain the required certification within 6 months of appointment; failure to obtain the proper certification requirement will result in termination of employment.
  • This position is designated IT-1 (Critical - Sensitive) in accordance with SECNAV M-5510.30 and will require a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
  • Candidates must be eligible for and obtain a Secret Clearance, within 6 months of appointment. Failure to obtain will result in termination.
  • Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber IT/CSWF Qualification Matrix (described in SECNAV M-5239.2) associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned
  • Participate annually in 40 hours of continuous learning (CL) activities to be documented in a current individual development plan (IDP) signed by both the employee and supervisor.

  • Operating System/Computing Environment (OS/CE) certificate of training, as dictated by the Command Cyber IT/CSWF Program Manager: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)Mobility (pass the associated Microsoft exam(s) or Skillport version of same)
  • A Signed Privileged Access Statement.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of shell scripting languages, such as Powershell, for Microsoft, Android, and Apple platforms.
  • Understanding front-end and user interface HTML, XML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • NEXCOM preferred certification is Security+.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the full spectrum of end user application, patching and operating system support for varying devices/environments (ie PC desktop/laptop, MacBook, iMac, vmWare, InTune, Microsoft O365) and mobile (ie Blackberry, iPhone, tablet) support to include patching, image creation, configuration, implementation/deployment, troubleshooting, and overall support for end user applications, operating systems, devices and other related equipment.
  • Prioritizing assignments, coordinating workload, mentoring and communicating to team.
  • Providing and leading the team in the installation, and configuration of end user application and operating system software to include operating system files, patches, user applications, etc.
  • Works closely with Client Services support staff and management when issues with the image process, software installation or application support needs arise.
  • Overseeing and utilizing automated deployment and management tools such as Mobile Device Management systems, Microsoft Software Center for desktops, Microsoft Intune, Advanced Installer packaging application, App V packaging application, MAC desktops and MSI's to distribute applications to NEXCOM PCs / locations worldwide.
  • Reviewing and evaluating periodic critical security notifications and executing a series of planned patch and service pack management utilizing scripts or tools for automated updates.
  • Supporting the risk management framework for hardening applications and systems.
  • Performing analysis for new and currently installed applications for the NEXCOM PCs.
  • Performing ongoing optimization, upgrades, and patches of applications on the NEXCOM PCs.
  • Implementing new applications from design through post installation stages including packaging, deployment, troubleshooting, and installation documentation.
  • Providing technical support and user support for application troubleshooting.
  • Ensuring/implementing the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Applications.
  • Actively participating in project planning, and taking a leadership role, to ensure timely and successful completion of projects assigned to Client Services Engineering team.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
