About The Position

This position directly supports the technology needs of Brown University’s Department of Public Safety, a sworn, fully-functioning law enforcement agency operating 24/7 to protect and serve the Brown community. The Lead Application Administrator within the OIT Public Safety Applications team will serve as a senior position supporting all of the Public Safety applications, including but not limited to Brown’s access control system (CCure 9000), video security (Genetec), Zetron Communication Solution, Dispatch & Records Management (currently IMC), NICE 911 Voice & Radio Recording Suite, and the RILETS (Rhode Island Law Enforcement Telecommunications System). Responsibilities will include application administration, end user application support, & end user application training for all of the Department of Public Safety’s applications. The Lead Application Administrator will develop and maintain a fundamental understanding of how to utilize all Public Safety applications from an end-user perspective, in addition to application administration responsibilities. This is critical for end-user application support, application administration, & end-user application training success. Beyond high-level administration, this role is responsible for operational excellence, aiding in the development of a structured Kanban-based workflow to manage team priorities, and leading the Technical Documentation Lifecycle. The Lead Application Administrator will lead the effort to write technical documentation in support of all applications that will be used to cross train all members of the team. The Lead Application Administrator will lead the effort to cross train the other application administrators. The Lead Application Administrator will also lead the effort to partner with stakeholders to develop functional test plans used by stakeholders to validate all application upgrades and whenever regression testing is needed. The Lead Application Administrator will participate in and support all upgrades, application and security patches, etc. and will coordinate all aspects of testing, documentation, and training of end users. The Lead Application Administrator will help the team participate in all aspects of change management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience with enterprise-level business application support or administration.
  • 1 - 2 years in a lead, supervisory, or senior-level role with mentorship responsibilities
  • Experience Developing & Leading End-User Training and Documentation (Both Technical and Non-Technical)
  • Experience Developing & Leading Peer Training and Technical Documentation
  • Strong application support/administration abilities to troubleshoot, support, and maintain critical application suites/software components supporting a 24x7 operation.
  • Ability to see how individual applications (CCURE, Genetec, etc.) integrate into the larger University ecosystem
  • Strong problem solving skills, organizational skills, and project planning skills
  • Ability to manage "lightweight" projects through to completion without direct supervision
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL Queries
  • Troubleshooting skills for problem resolution
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Knowledge of IT change management processes
  • Excellent customer service skills; strong commitment to customer service
  • Ability to bridge the gap between "deep-tech" configurations and "user-friendly" documentation
  • Strong computing, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a group and as a member of a project team

  • Successfully completion of a criminal background check and education verifications is required.
