As a Lead Animal Care Technician, you will be a conscientious, detail-oriented caregiver with a flexible schedule and a desire to lead others. Requirements

  • Previous leadership experience and a natural drive to lead.
  • Dependability, focus, and adherence to facility standards and safety protocols.
  • Comfort with computers and technology, including learning and operating kennel software.
  • Ability to work well with others to complete duties and provide excellent care.
  • Ability to communicate properly, promptly, and effectively with team members, management, and pet parents.
  • Flexible schedule, including willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Keen observation skills to ensure guest safety and comfort, and to report issues.
  • Comfort with dogs of all sizes and breeds.
  • Ability to stand/work upright for multiple hours, in all weather types.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to remain active throughout the shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous pet care/animal experience is preferred, but not required.
  • A love for animals is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Set the standard for optimum operation of the center and lead the team by example.
  • Train staff on their roles and provide necessary advice and resources for success.
  • Take charge of the facility in the absence of management and communicate important information, including dog behavior, supply needs, and potential incidents.
  • Oversee dog playgroups, managing their behavior and playtime.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of animal behavior, including canine body language, to ensure a safe environment and make dogs comfortable.
  • Manage the cleanliness of kennels and play areas, maintaining high cleaning standards, including cleaning toys, washing dishes, mopping floors, vacuuming, and handling messes.
  • Feed pets according to instructions, ensure fresh water, clean bedding, and comfortable overnight spaces.
  • Administer medication as per veterinary instructions.
  • Use common sense to solve problems related to the care of dogs.
  • Proactively take on various tasks within the center.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure everyone is aligned.
  • Provide excellent customer service and enthusiastically interact with pet parents.
  • Follow established safety protocols diligently to ensure a safe and fun environment for pets and staff.
  • Demonstrate a love for dogs and comfort with dogs of all sizes and breeds.
