About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting the Anesthesiologist in all departments and with all anesthesia procedures, including expediting patient flow through the perioperative area, maintaining patient safety, developing and maintaining external (patient, surgeon) and internal (Anesthesiologist, staff) customer satisfaction. Responsible for set up, operation and some maintenance of specialized equipment, including life support. This position also assists the Anesthesiologist with evaluation and monitoring of the patients during the perioperative phase. Assists in sterile or isolation areas. Participates in "call" rotation for continuous Perioperative Support Technologists (PST) at night, on weekends, and holidays. Perioperative Support Technologists must be ready to participate in call schedule in nine months or less. As a Lead, acts as a resource person for other employees. May train or communicate instructions to other employees, perform minor scheduling, and inspect work to separate acceptable work from unacceptable. Serves as a contact person in the absence of a supervisor or director. Does not hire, fire, discipline, promote, demote, transfer or appraise performance. Requirements

  • Coursework/Training: Medical or Science based secondary education.
  • Within 90 days of hire: Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework/Training: Graduate of an accredited program i.e. EMT, Paramedic, RT, or Anesthesia Technology (AT) program.
  • Upon hire: ACLS Provider - American Heart Association
  • Upon hire: PALS Provider - American Heart Association
  • Upon hire: Anesthesia Technician certification (ASATT)
  • 1 year experience working in a similar capacity in an Anesthesia Department in a tertiary healthcare facility.
