About The Position

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Android development, including Java and an interest in Kotlin. They should possess broad Google API experience for Android, covering areas like Auth, SafetyNet, and Permissions. A deep understanding of mobile programming concepts such as threading, crash analysis, and security is essential. Additionally, experience with JavaScript programming using Node, hybrid app debugging via Chrome, Git Submodules, NPM package publishing, and Cordova command line tools is required. Proficiency in Android Studio and macOS configuration, including shell scripting, is also necessary. The role involves stewarding the Android platform and development on macOS, creating and maintaining custom Cordova plugins, performing annual codebase maintenance, monitoring production feedback and crash reports, collaborating with infrastructure teams on development issues, and training web developers on hybrid app development and debugging.

Requirements

• Java, and an interest in Kotlin
• Broad Google API for Android experience, including but not limited to: Auth, SafetyNet, Permissions
• Deep knowledge of mobile programming concepts, including but not limited to Threading, Crash Analysis, Security
• JavaScript programming using Node, and Hybrid App debugging via Chrome
• Git Submodules

• macOS configuration, including shell scripting
• Strong written and version communication skills
• BA/BS in computer science or related field

• Experience developing APIs
• Experience with iOS app development, including the ability to read Swift and Objective-C

Responsibilities

• Steward the Android platform, and Android development on macOS
• Create and maintain custom Cordova plugins, including hooks
• Perform annual maintenance on the codebase and automated build scripts to keep pace with changes to Android
• Monitor production feedback, crash reports, and analytics add address issues
• Work with infrastructure teams to address proxy, software and administrative privilege issues that impact Android development or build process
• Train web application developers how to build and debug a hybrid app.
