Lead AI Engineer 4D

GenpactNew York City, NY
$80,000 - $100,000Hybrid

About The Position

Genpact is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to work inside customer systems to build production applications with Claude and other frontier models, ensuring they meet real customer requirements. This role involves delivering technical artifacts such as agentic workflows, MCP servers, sub-agents, agent skills, evaluation harnesses, and integrations into the client's stack. The position requires owning a workstream end-to-end, including discovery, architecture, build, demo, and handoff, while making real-time trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality. The Lead AI Engineer will co-design solutions with client stakeholders at the Director and VP level, sit in the client's room, take direction, and turn it into shipped code. They will provide white-glove deployment support within enterprise environments, act as a trusted advisor for critical systems, identify and codify repeatable deployment patterns, and contribute reusable assets back to the Genpact Applied AI practice. The role also involves staying current with the latest LLM capabilities, agent frameworks, and the AI product development stack, and bringing field insights back to product and partner teams.

Requirements

  • Experience in a technical, customer-facing role (Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, or software engineer with consulting experience).
  • Daily, hands-on working fluency with Claude (or a comparable frontier LLM) as a build tool.
  • Production experience with LLMs: advanced prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience shipping production applications.
  • Track record of shipping something a customer or end-user actually paid for, used, or measured.
  • Ability to hold your own in a client conversation with senior stakeholders.
  • High agency — comfortable navigating ambiguity in complex organizations and turning vague business problems into concrete technical plans.
  • High cooperation mindset — ability to balance competing priorities across customer teams, Genpact delivery, and partners with integrity.
  • Proficient C2 level English language proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Former technical founders are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Ideally, one or more of TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or SQL programming skills.
