About The Position

We are looking for a dependable, energetic, and caring Lead Aftercare Teacher to lead our school-age Aftercare program and create a safe, structured, and fun afternoon experience for our children. Utilize TLE's technology, materials, curriculum resources, and engaging learning spaces to help children “learn, play, and grow.” At The Learning Experience, we make early education joyful, engaging and fun so children are happy to learn, play and grow. Our curriculum focuses on the six ages and stages of early childhood development and engages children in hands-on learning activities that encourage them to explore and solve problems at their own rate of development. This forms a foundation for kids to Learn, Play and Grow under the care of our nurturing teachers and staff. At TLE®, we’ve created a full cast of characters that become our little learners’ educators, partners and friends through their preschool education journey. Each character has a unique personality and area of interest and brings learning to life by allowing children to explore the world through fun and imagination.

Requirements

Have a genuine passion for working with and educating children.
Are dependable, responsible, energetic, and comfortable taking the lead in a classroom.
Are comfortable walking locally to pick up children from area schools.
Have at least six months of professional teaching/childcare experience; one year or more is preferred.
Have a high school diploma/GED (required).
Can meet all applicable background screening and state licensing requirements.

Nice To Haves

An Associate degree or higher in ECE, Education, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

Walk to local Hoboken schools to safely pick up children and escort them back to the center.
Lead the daily Aftercare classroom routine from 2:00 PM–7:00 PM.
Provide homework assistance and academic support to school-age children.
Create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans, projects, games, and activities.
Maintain a safe, nurturing, organized, and positive classroom environment.
Supervise children during transitions, activities, snack, homework, and play.
Build positive relationships with children and help make Aftercare something they look forward to each day.
Communicate regularly and professionally with families about their child's afternoon.
Work closely with the leadership team and fellow teachers to ensure a smooth and successful Aftercare program.
Follow all TLE policies, procedures, and applicable state licensing and safety requirements.
