About The Position

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11–17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The dedicated professionals at Suncoast Behavioral Health Center provide quality mental health treatment for children. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home. The Lead Therapist is responsible for overseeing all therapeutic responsibilities on the adolescent units. The Lead Therapist will have responsibility to ensure programming occurs as scheduled, educate staff to increase competency for all groups, respond and support therapists in family communications and attend adolescent treatment teams. The Lead Therapist will assist with the development and implementation of activities on the adolescent units, to carry out the organization’s objectives related to social services.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health counseling.
  • Current license from the State of Florida, such as LCSW, LMFT, LMHC preferred.
  • Four (4) years direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with child and adolescent patients with psychiatric diagnoses preferred.
  • One – two (1-2) years experience in clinical and administrative supervision preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of discharge planning and community resources.
  • Must have knowledge of implementation of individualized treatment modalities to include CBT, DBT and trauma informed care.
  • Must have knowledge of human development over the life span.
  • Work is mentally demanding.
  • Extensive walking, standing and sitting.
  • Must be able to participate in the physical restraint and seclusion of patients.
  • Must be able to participate in and complete Handle With Care Training on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all therapeutic responsibilities on the adolescent units.
  • Ensuring programming occurs as scheduled.
  • Educating staff to increase competency for all groups.
  • Responding and supporting therapists in family communications.
  • Attending adolescent treatment teams.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of activities on the adolescent units, to carry out the organization’s objectives related to social services.
