About The Position

The function of the Lead Admitting Representative is to provide leadership, communication and training to the registration team of Larkin Community Hospital. Lead Admitting Representative provides continuity during the initial and ongoing training of who have responsibility for registering patients following established policy and procedures. Work cooperatively with the Admitting manager, Insurance Verifier and Admitting Representative. In addition, responsible for knowing/doing all aspects of the Lead Admitting Representative Job duties and serve in a supervision capacity as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Medical Terminology knowledge.
  • In depth knowledge of HIPAA.
  • Demonstrate experience in leadership skills and act as support to staff in answering questions of immediacy and serves in a supervision capacity as appropriate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, gain credibility, and develop productive relationships.
  • Proven abilities to set priorities and multi-task.
  • Team oriented individual who shows initiative and demonstrates flexibility.
  • Must have basic clerical skills, typing, filing, and ability to communicate with the public, doctors, nurses and patients.
  • Detailed understanding of the revenue cycle and its impact on the hospital's bottom line.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance verification processes for Medicare, Medicaid, Managed care, and commercial payers, including referral and authorization requirements.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and tracking.
  • Comfortable with high-volume data entry-maintaining accuracy at speed (ability to enter demographic and insurance data with high precision).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security rules and experience applying compliance best practices in daily work.
  • Ability to navigate payer portals and third-party authorization systems to secure real-time eligibility and benefits.
  • Familiarity with patient financial counseling basics, charity care policies.
  • Medical Terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Two plus years' registration experience with emphasis on patient contact and accuracy preferred.
  • Experience with training staff in addition to analyzing, designing and developing training Curriculum material preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize the need for improvement in operations and provide feedback to the Manager of Support Services concerning suggestions or ideas that may improve efficiency or processes.
