About The Position

Vizance is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Lead Accountant to oversee critical accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy, and support strategic business decision-making. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, leading month-end and year-end close processes, mentoring accounting staff, and maintaining compliance with financial reporting requirements. The Lead Accountant serves as a key partner to leadership by providing financial insights and ensuring the integrity of financial data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation or CPA candidate.
  • Experience in the insurance, professional services, or financial services industry.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software systems.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial transactions.
  • Manage accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Analyze financial results and identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Review and approve vendor payments and customer billing transactions.
  • Monitor cash flow and support cash management activities.
  • Ensure timely collection of receivables and resolution of payment discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Coordinate annual audits and serve as a primary contact for external auditors.
  • Assist with tax filings, regulatory reporting, and insurance audits as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and accounting records.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to accounting team members.
  • Review team work product for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with workload management, process improvements, and department initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies within accounting processes and financial systems.
  • Support financial system enhancements, reporting automation, and data integrity initiatives.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to provide financial insights and operational support.
  • Participate in special projects, acquisitions, integrations, or strategic initiatives as assigned.
