POSITION SUMMARY The Lead Paraprofessional provides instructional support while serving as the day-to-day lead for paraprofessional staff. This role helps ensure consistent implementation of academic, behavioral, and therapeutic programming by coordinating classroom coverage, coaching staff, monitoring documentation, and supporting classroom systems. Working closely with teachers, Case Managers, clinicians, and leadership, the Lead Paraprofessional helps ensure students receive individualized support aligned with their IEPs, BIPs, and treatment plans. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to safely supervise students, respond to behavioral needs, transport students when required, and administer medications as trained. The Lead Paraprofessional implements evidence-based interventions using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles in collaboration with Behavioral Clinicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum two (2) years of paraprofessional experience in a special education or therapeutic school setting
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to coach and support staff in real time
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and emotional resilience
  • Strong problem-solving and time management abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Behavioral Science, or related field preferred
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or classroom coordination experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily paraprofessional assignments to maintain classroom coverage and student safety.
  • Model and support consistent implementation of instructional, behavioral, and therapeutic plans.
  • Provide real-time coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to paraprofessional staff.
  • Monitor classroom routines, behavior support systems, safety procedures, and instructional fidelity.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of student documentation, data collection, incident reports, and medication records.
  • Support academic instruction through small-group, individual, and classroom interventions.
  • Communicate student progress, concerns, and staffing needs with teachers, Case Managers, clinicians, and leadership.
  • Support onboarding, training, and development of new paraprofessionals.
  • Assist students with personal care needs as outlined in individual plans.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
