About The Position
The mission of the Leach Tank Operator is to remove soluble wax used to create appropriate cavities in patterns by dissolving wax with acids. This role involves preparing patterns for the leaching process, operating the pumping system to mix chemicals in leach tanks, and ensuring the safe removal of soluble wax. Key accountabilities include pattern preparation, the leaching process itself, maintaining a safe work environment through proper chemical storage and handling, record keeping, and adhering to safety practices. The operator is also responsible for meeting production and quality standards and performing other assigned tasks.
Requirements
- Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards and other special instructions
- Ability to work alone with limited supervision
- Physical ability to perform the essential job functions
- PCCs Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed (for LSBO and TBO only)
- May be required to complete hazardous waste management training
Responsibilities
- Inspects pattern
- Seals all open chills using hot pencils
- Loads and unloads leaching fixtures as needed
- Operates pumping system to mix chemicals in leach tank
- Places patterns in leach tank for appropriate time periods
- Removes patterns following cycle
- Inspects removed pattern for residue, defects and breakage using lights, mirrors and other hand-held tools
- Maintains fluid levels in tanks
- Records pH levels of fluids
- Neutralizes acids for disposal
- Stores chemicals using established techniques
- May be required to handle hazardous waste
- Cleans work areas and equipment
- Cleans other areas in wax department as needed
- Completes logs and records of parts and tank activities
- Adhere to plant and department safety rules
- Safely operate all equipment and tools
- Safely handle, store and dispose of chemicals
- Identify and report safety problems
- Meets all production and quality standards
- Performs other tasks as assigned
