About The Position

Carries out instrument repairs and calibration of laboratory equipment with appropriate SOPs and compliance with regulatory guidelines. Plays a key role in the maintenance and instrument troubleshooting of all laboratory equipment, including, but not limited to, mass spectrometers, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) systems, automated liquid handlers or preparation systems, UV and/or fluorescent detectors, and other laboratory systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry -OR- related Scientific field with 8-10+ years’ experience is required -OR- Master's Degree or equivalent in Chemistry -OR- related Scientific field with 7+ years’ experience is required -OR- Ph.D. or equivalent in Chemistry -OR- related Scientific field with 5+ years’ experience is required.
  • Significant work experience will be considered as a substitution for education

  • Experience within a Contract Research Organization, drug development, mass spectrometry, bioanalysis, or a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled calibrations and preventive maintenance and non-routine repair procedures in support of scientific and laboratory equipment.
  • Collect, compile, measure, summarize, and record data developed during the performance of routine and non-routine maintenance activities.
  • Reviews and signs off calibration data performed by other staff members to ensure compliance with SOPs and other documents.
  • Perform assignments with strict adherence to written standard operating procedures where required.
  • Accesses and uses all sources (e.g., manuals, tech support, internet, peers) for technical information to support familiar and unfamiliar laboratory instrumentation.
  • Work with computer-controlled instrumentation and multiple software applications.
  • May perform routine technical proficiency testing with additional lab staff.
  • Professional and effective in all interactions with peers and customers.
  • This position will generally support one specific local site; however, temporary assignments to other locations are possible.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend and/or complete all required company, department, and EHS required safety training.
  • Maintain a safe work area.
  • Assist with responding to audit findings.
