About The Position

This is a Personal Service Contract Posting for an LCA SHIFT SUPERVISOR at the Lincoln's Challenge Academy within the Department of Military Affairs. The role involves supervising daily activities of teams on assigned shifts, coordinating with other program staff, ensuring minimum staffing requirements, and assisting Team Leaders and Sr. Assistant Team Leaders. The position also requires coordination with other departments for various cadet services, assisting in life skills training, participating in cadet disciplinary boards, and supervising cadet instruction in personal, vocational, recreational, and physical activities. The role may also involve physically restraining recipients with aggressive behavior and conducting initial investigations.

Requirements

  • Requires the completion of High School or GED.
  • Requires four (4) years progressive military experience.
  • Requires satisfactory completion of a four-year active military service tour or a six-year National Guard or Reserve component enlistment or tour.
  • Active membership in the National Guard or Reserve component, or Military retirement (20 years creditable service).
  • Must have received an honorable discharge from the military service.
  • Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license in the appropriate classification as required by law.
  • Required to work a flex work schedule including weekends and evenings when necessary to meet agency needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree with course work in social science preferred.
  • Paraprofessional License.
  • Completion of Senior Leadership Course (SLC) or the equivalent course preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the daily activities of teams on assigned shift.
  • Coordinates activities of a team with other program staff.
  • Ensures minimum staffing requirements are met and provides assistance to Team Leaders and Sr Assistant Team Leaders in supervision, discipline, and activities of cadets.
  • Serves as Team Leader in his/her absence as needed.
  • Evaluates and oversees data entry into the Cadet Tracking System.
  • Coordinates with other departments for GED testing, ASVAB testing, career and personal counseling, AA/NA meetings, QUAD meetings, linen and clothing exchange, college placement training, and post resident training sessions.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of life skills training.
  • Supervises, coordinates, and assists in the instruction of cadets in living skills.
  • Participates in other instructional programs as required.
  • Participates in cadet disciplinary boards as required.
  • Makes disciplinary recommendations as necessary.
  • Supervises disciplinary activities relating to cadets.
  • Physically restrains recipients with aggressive behavior to restore order in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Conducts initial investigations as assigned.
  • Supervises the instruction of cadets in various personal, vocational, and recreational activities and physical training.
  • Offers assistance and practical advice to cadets and determines minor disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
