About The Position

This position is a Personal Service Contract role within the Department of Military Affairs, focusing on recruiting potential cadets for the Lincoln's Challenge Academy. The LCA OAR will actively recruit, respond to inquiries, develop and coordinate informational programs, interview potential applicants, and assist them with the application process. This role also involves establishing and maintaining public relations, representing the academy as a valuable community youth outreach program, and coordinating with educational institutions, public and private agencies, and employers for recruitment and resource opportunities. The position requires performing other duties as assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the enumerated duties.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four years of college.
  • Requires two years of administrative civilian or military experience.
  • Requires the ability to pass a DoD background investigation.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license.
  • Required to work a flex work schedule including weekends and evenings when necessary to meet agency needs.
  • This position is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. This job may require a good deal of walking or standing or involves sitting most of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers bachelor’s degree in a Communication or Marketing area or business administration, with course work in sales, marketing and public speaking.
  • Prefers Bilingual speaker/writer in Spanish and English languages.

Responsibilities

  • Actively recruits potential cadets for attendance at Lincoln’s Challenge Academy.
  • Responds to inquiries from potential applicants, distributes information brochures and applications.
  • Develop and coordinate informational programs and interviews potential applicants.
  • Assists potential cadets with completion of application packets, reviews applications, and identifies qualified applicants.
  • Evaluates and oversees data entry into the Team assigned folder.
  • Establishes and maintains public relations and represents Lincoln’s Challenge Academy as a valuable community youth outreach program.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and conducts informational programs and oral presentations.
  • Coordinates with educational institutions, public and private agencies, and employers in the identification and recruitment of potential cadets and mentors.
  • Establishes community coalitions and coordinates agreements with local and state agencies, within the assigned region, for cadet and mentor recruiting and resource opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
