About The Position

A Head Coach is someone who leads and develops the Youth Programs team and embodies Sender Ones core values when making decisions. As a coach and mentor, the Head Coach collaborates with the Programs Manager to ensure all Sender One staff, including rec & comp coaches are providing an outstanding experience to new visitors, guests, members, and partners who walk through our doors.

  • Top rope & lead belay and climbing experience

  • Knowledge of Rock Gym Pro reporting & data handling
  • Knowledge of Basecamp
  • Experience coaching and instructing
  • Experience with USAC competition format and rules

Responsibilities

  • Expert on all the responsibilities of a Youth Programs Supervisor, Youth Program Coordinator, Youth Program Shift Lead, Camp Lead, and Camp Coordinator
  • Complete goals on development plan set by the Programs Manager
  • Develops, directly or indirectly, the curriculum for the recreational & competition team and seasonal Camp sessions
  • Oversee and assist the Comp Team Coaches during practices to prepare the climbers for competitions
  • Collaborate with and notify the Route Setting team on what the Comp Team curriculum is to help the Route Setters set specific needs of the team
  • Coach at USAC local, regional, divisional, and national level competitions during the bouldering/sport climbing season
  • Organize team events, including but not limited to, tryouts, team building events, end of season celebrations
  • Manages and trains recreational & competition coaches to ensure the delivery of program curriculum is meeting Sender Ones standards
  • Check in with assigned staff on a monthly basis and ensure team coaches are performing at the expected level
  • Connects with parents & climbers and receive feedback about the teams through emails, phone calls, and in-person interactions
  • Attends the weekly YP meeting to guide the departments strategy and provide the curriculum to the teams
  • Collaborates with Programs Manager to develop the Youth Programs department
