About The Position

The New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), New York’s affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union, seeks current law students for its 10-week Summer 2027 internship program. Interns will conduct legal research and writing in support of policy priorities across a range of civil rights and civil liberties issues. The Policy Department advances civil rights and civil liberties through legislation and administrative advocacy, and pushes back against efforts to curtail rights. Its areas of focus include immigration, policing, criminal legal system reform, gender and sexuality, privacy and surveillance, and First Amendment rights. The NYCLU is a not-for-profit, nonpartisan organization founded in 1951, with more than 90,000 members and supporters and eight offices statewide.
