Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is seeking law student interns for its Denver Family & Children Unit. This internship offers hands-on experience in family law, allowing interns to work directly with clients from day one. Interns will perform a variety of duties, including client interviews, case investigation, drafting legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and notices, and conducting legal research. Depending on authorization under Colorado's Law Student Practice Act, interns may also have the opportunity for direct representation in court. The role involves participation in weekly staff meetings, attending client meetings, court hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences. Additionally, interns will engage in community outreach activities to understand client needs within the context of their daily lives. This position is ideal for students seeking practical exposure to family law and a commitment to serving low-income individuals.
