Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)
  • Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Law Enforcement Officer License
  • 22+ years of age
  • Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs: 1. Certified State law enforcement recruit training. 2. Certified County law enforcement recruit training. 3. Federal law enforcement training. 4. Programs approved by the Director.
  • No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings (referring to the decisions in Giglio v. United States, 405 U.S. 105 (1972) and United States v. Henthorn, 931 F. 2d 29 (9th Cir. 1991)).
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions.
  • Must be able to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters relating to security disputes, complaints on the performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees.
  • Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for their assigned Post/duties.
  • In good physical health and be fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking patrolling for an entire shift(s), climbing stairs, running and self-defense.
  • Ability to perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) for a designated distance.
  • Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or providing support to persons with limited mobility.
  • Subject to a random drug screen.
  • Must be able to exercise physical force, if required, in the execution of their official duties.
  • Be able to successfully pass a security background check conducted by the DOTA pass and ID office.
  • Well-groomed and neat in appearance as officially commissioned representatives of the State.
  • Pass and complete a one-time physical examination within the past 6 months.
  • Pass a 12-panel drug test and pass all future random drug testing.
  • Correctable, vision to 20/30 each eye with normal color vision.

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.

  • LEOs may be required to provide a court appearance for citations that are issued on behalf of DOTA. Contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs that are required to attend a court proceeding.
  • Provide customer service to visitors, travelers, and personnel by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities appropriate to an airport setting.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and communicating with supervisors and/or public agency partners as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout terminals, public areas, parking locations, and perimeter access points to help identify unusual activity and/or potential policy violations.
  • Monitor entry points, restricted areas, and pedestrian traffic patterns to help support authorized access control and report suspicious behavior, unattended property, and/or operational concerns.
  • Assist with directions, general information, and de-escalation during routine interactions and elevated situations while maintaining a professional presence throughout the location.
