About The Position

The Law Enforcement Officer provides proactive patrol, incident response, and law enforcement services to ensure the safety and security of the campus community. This role enforces laws and University regulations, conducts investigations, and supports emergency response operations.

Requirements

  • Must meet the requirements of Chapter 943, Florida Statutes
  • 1+ years of sworn law enforcement or sworn investigative experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219
  • Background check
  • Credit check
  • Must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator
  • Must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of
  • Complete an online or in-person training session for Campus Security Authority (CSA)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive patrols to deter crime and ensure campus safety
  • Respond to incidents and take appropriate law enforcement action
  • Investigate criminal activity and prepare reports
  • Enforce University traffic, parking, and safety laws or regulations
  • Provide assistance to the public, including first aid and escorts
  • Monitor and respond to alarms and secure university facilities
  • Control traffic, manage hazards, and support event safety operations
  • Serve as a Tier 1 emergency responder
  • Other duties as assigned
