About The Position

Under the direct supervision of licensed attorneys, this role performs entry- to working-level legal research, drafting, and case preparation for the Uintah County Attorney's Office. Key responsibilities include assisting with criminal prosecutions and county department representation, conducting legal research, and drafting motions, briefs, and memoranda. The position involves reviewing evidence such as police reports and body-worn camera footage to identify legal issues and support trial strategy. Additionally, under student practice rules, the individual may appear in court for arraignments and hearings, manage discovery deadlines, and assist with appellate briefs, witness interviews, and victim consultations.

Requirements

  • Current 3rd-year law student (or incoming 3L) in good standing at an ABA-accredited law school
  • Successfully completed two full years of legal coursework
  • Qualify for, secure, and maintain a student practice certificate under the Utah Supreme Court Rules of Professional Practice for the duration of employment
