Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Law Clerk role with a focus on litigation.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • College Law Clerk Diploma or Institute of Law Clerks Ontario Certificate.
  • Knowledge of iManage, Case Center (formerly CaseLines), ACL, Kofax PDF, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Initiative and expertise to drive highly effective file management and seek direction when appropriate.
  • High level organization and time management skills.
  • A team player with a strong work ethic and growth mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • University degree is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Play a critical role in assisting our lawyers with matters relating to all aspects of litigation, including but not limited to the areas of insurance and tort liability and commercial and construction disputes.
  • Prepare client reports and engage in direct client communications relating to ongoing matters.
  • Drive litigation files forward by delivering high-quality drafting, managing discovery, coordinating with clients, counsel and experts, and advancing complex matters through all stages of proceedings.
  • Collaborate and contribute as an important member of the team and provide unwavering commitment to excellent client service.
  • Work as member of a collaborative team to mentor and share your knowledge with students, associates and junior law clerks.
