About The Position

Works under direct supervision of an assigned supervisor to be responsible for researching legal data for briefs or arguments based on statutory law or decisions.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university and enrolled in an accredited law school as a rising second-year law student or higher; OR An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
  • General knowledge of legal terms and court proceedings.
  • Ability to conduct legal research and to prepare drafts of legal documents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a system of files.
  • Ability to work with co-workers and the public with courtesy and tact.

  • A writing sample may be requested.

Responsibilities

  • Searches for and studies legal records and documents to obtain data applicable to cases under consideration.
  • Prepares legal memoranda, drafts of briefs/arguments and other relevant paperwork.
  • Files pleadings with court clerk.
  • Serves copies of pleadings on opposing counsel.
  • Drafts correspondence, affidavits and files documentation as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as directed or assigned.
