About The Position

Street Legal is currently seeking a LAW/BOF/LAB Engineering Subject Matter Expert to join our project in Richland, WA. The Department of Energy (DOE), Hanford Field Office (HFO) requires general support services for the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Project (WTP) engineering division. Support will be provided in the following areas: Perform as an HFO Field Engineer on the Low-Activity Waste (LAW) and Balance of Facility (BOF), and Analytical Laboratory (LAB) systems for the WTP Project. Perform oversight and assessment of the contractor engineering activities and programs for various mechanical, chemical (e.g., ammonia), and ventilation structures, systems, and components. Performs oversight and assessment activities in the field consistently (not less than 2x per week). Conducts in-depth analysis of technical engineering issues, requirements and development efforts and the resolution of major conflicts, unique issues, and engineering uncertainties. Debriefs other engineers, staff, and management on unusual, difficult, or controversial technical engineering matters. Provides opinions and recommendations relative to planning, organizing, and implementing engineering projects and processes. Monitor contractor work processes and report on successes or obstacles for LAW, BOF, and LAB facility engineering activities. Develop and maintain knowledge of facility and system engineering requirements. Provide timely and accurate input (oversight reports, weekly reports, email, verbal, etc.) to WED, AMWTP, and HFO Management (when requested) regarding contractor performance for engineering activities. Utilize excellent writing and communication skills in all interactions.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Engineering, Science, or technical discipline. Six years of relevant experience may be substituted for BS/BA degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in contractor oversight and engineering programs on a capital project similar to WTP.
  • Experience with WTP engineering requirements for mechanical, chemical (e.g., ammonia), and ventilation structures, systems, and component operations.
  • Experience with researching and navigating complex federal regulations to determine requirements for contractor performance attributes on a capital project.

  • Proven track record of success in performing/communicating oversight in a technical environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Hanford Site mission, activities, and priorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOE Hanford processes and procedures.
  • Proficient in DOE’s program management practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with, or ability to quickly learn and utilize, various technology management tools used at Hanford.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Expert-level proficient in Microsoft 365.
